UK Childcare Vouchers Extended

The workplace childcare voucher system is set to continue until October 2018

Damian Hinds, the Secretary of State for Education has confirmed that the April 2018 deadline for the abolition of employer-supported childcare vouchers will be extended for a further six months.

The removal of workplace childcare vouchers is to make way for the government’s “tax-free childcare”. The tax-free childcare policy will provide working parents with children under the age of 12 up to £2,000 a year per child to help cover childcare costs.

Childcare vouchers were set to be closed to new entrants on 5 April 2018 but this deadline has been extended. The exact date on which childcare vouchers will now close to new applicants has not yet been announced but is expected to be October 2018.
